ANDREA SILVERIO
B i o g r a p h y
Andrea Silverio has been an active player since the early stages of her career. She has performed in Brazil's main concert halls, including the Sao Paulo Hall and the Opera Houses in both Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. In Brazil, she acquired vast experience playing in orchestras from the age of 17. Ms. Silverio has also performed in several chamber music ensembles focusing on both traditional and non-traditional concert opportunities, including live soundtracks for silent films, chamber music competitions, community outreach, and recitals.
Ms. Silverio has won several competitions throughout her career, including first place in the Sao Paulo Chamber Music Competition, second place in the Mississippi Teachers National Association Competition, and as a freshman performed Pasculli’s virtuosic “La Favorita” with the University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble.
Ms. Silverio has performed with numerous professional orchestras, including the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, and the Brazilian Orchestra in August 2014, where she played Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring as a substitute under the baton of Alondra de la Parra. Additionally, Ms. Silverio plays a variety of genres including performances with heavy metal bands, jazz orchestras, and Brazilian pop artists.
Ms. Silverio holds a bachelor's degree from The University of Southern Mississippi, a master's in oboe performance from Louisiana State University. She is curently pursuing her doctor of musical arts degree at The University of Alabama where she is the teaching assistant for Dr. Mary Lindsay Bailey.
